Whitby, North Yorkshire UK

We come from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. It was the last day of our mini-break in beautiful Whitby, North Yorkshire. It’s a place our family love. My husband started going there as a child, and we now take our own children too. It was only a quick visit, during storm Bert, which put a bit of a dampener on the weekend (pun intended!). On Sunday morning we were making our way back to the car park to make our journey home. We stopped next to the fisherman sculpture for one last look out across the harbour to say our sad goodbyes. There’s a pretty little Christmas tree next to the swing bridge, where something caught my eye. A single decoration hanging on the tree. “That’s odd” I thought. “Maybe it’s a memorial?”. Curiosity got the better of me, and I’m so glad it did. Finding the heart put a smile on my face and a tingle of love and happiness at what was a little sad moment for our family. It made coming home a little easier that day. And I have a lovely new decoration for my Christmas tree this year (our tree has momentos from our travels- some of which aren’t even christmassy but we love our annual trip down memory lane when we put them on the tree!). I’ll treasure it and display it on my tree for the rest of my life šŸ˜ Thank you for a new memory! Lindsay & Family xx
