I had come to the library to get some books for our book club to pick from for the next choice to read. I got into the car and then, before backing up, I noticed this lovely heart hanging from the tail end of the bicycle rack! It was so exciting to see colorful heart on a gray day, after we have had such freezing cold weather. It was like a little hug of beauty before the Spring thaw. And additionally, it brought my attention to the bicycle rack which is also a sculpture of a shark and some swimmers — so brilliant! Then I read the dedication and a great quote posted there comparing libraries and bicycles. Impressed, I looked up the history of the making of the bicycle rack (by high school students!) and information about the author of the quote. One little heart brought me such wonderful stories about the creative, local people whose work livens up our town library parking area! Thank you to whomever brightened up my day and led me to learn so much! Truly inspiring! This quilted heart now has a home in my kitchen and in my heart, where it often makes me smile and reminds me of all the kind and caring people around us, seen and unseen, known, unknown and yet to be discovered.
