DATELINE: October 10, 2019 / 4:30 p.m. … While walking my pups this afternoon in Seymour Park (near Northlite Circle), I saw something lying on the grass – a denim fabric heart with an attached tag. Thinking the heart was made and belonged to a child, I was going to place the heart in a prominent place hoping it would be found by its owner. I turned the heart over to find the other side made with patriotic material. I read the tag and realized that this heart quilt was meant for me. Funny thing – earlier in the day I saw a bumper sticker that read, “When life hands you scraps, make a quilt.” Very fitting. Very timely. If one of my Pocket-Greenhaven neighbors made the quilt heart – I thank you … it made my day.
