One week after celebrating our 18th year together, Junior was diagnosed with terminal cancer. His time is very short due to the aggressive nature, and location of his tumor. Today, as we were walking along the river path taking in the sights, sounds and smells of a world he will soon be parting, we stopped to rest on a bench. There, he found a lovely, quilted heart and drew my attention to it. I tied it to his harness, and he wore it proudly for the remainder of our walk. When he is gone, this heart will be wonderful reminder of the special bond that we shared for so many years.
