I found my heart while doing last minute Christmas shopping for my students. As I pulled into a parking space right in front of the door to the store I said, “Wow! Thank you for saving me a spot.” My day had gone quite nice and such a great parking space was a blessing. I noticed a little Christmas ornament hanging from a small Dogwood tree planted next to the parking spot. I briefly looked at it. Thought it might be a homeless project and decided to leave it be. An hour late as I came back to my car I noticed it was still there. I took a closer look and read the tag. I contemplated leaving it for someone else. Someone else might need it more. That small inner voice said, ” Angels are at work. This is meant for you. The store is closing and no one else will park here today. Today, allow someone else to be the blessing and accept one for yourself.” I do have a hard time with acceptance in that area.
Each time I look at the little quilted heart and the effort someone put into it, I am touched deeply by the kindness of a stranger. Such an impactful gesture. A true reminder of goodness and light in the world.
Thank you to the sweet angel who gave me such a perfect gift. I shall cherish it and pay it forward.
