We are from Saginaw, Michigan and were visiting family in Presque Isle, Michigan on December 27th and 28th. Whenever we visit Presque Isle, we do our best to visit the Old and New Presque Isle Lighthouses. Here’s how we discovered this quilted heart on December 27th, 2022. After hiking the beautiful snow covered trail from the harbor to the Old Lighthouse, we drove to the New Lighthouse and parked by the pavilion on the north end of the peninsula. We hiked the trail along Lake Huron on the west side of the peninsula and discovered this quilted heart hanging from birch tree stump. We believe the quilted heart was placed shortly before we found it because there were only one set of tracks in the fresh snow along this section of trail, and the quilted heart was not covered in snow like everything around it. We were quite surprised to find the quilted heart, and our daughters were very excited to tell the rest of our family about it when we arrived back at their house. Our intent was to enjoy the natural beauty of the snow covered shoreline and surrounding woods, and finding the quilted heart made our visit even more memorable.
When it was time leave, we mistakenly left the quilted heart (along with a few other items) at the house and didn’t realize it until we were almost home. Our family mailed us the items we left behind and they arrived today, January 3rd, so this is the first opportunity I’ve had to take a photo and post our story.
To whomever made the beautiful quilted heart that we found we send a heartfelt thank you!
