Our family’s Christmas together was delayed due to 2 people on the East Coast with illnesses and one person in Wisconsin hospitalized for a severely broken leg that required 2 surgeries. On January 6, 2024, we were finally together and the 6 of us decided to get outdoors. We selected the wheelchair accessible trail at the Schoenberg Marsh Waterfowl Production area in Poynette, WI to accommodate the family member recovering from a crushed and broken leg. We enjoyed the walk to the viewing area overlooking the water and savored the peacefulness. As we turned to leave, I (“Mom”) trailed behind, having spotted something colorful on a tree near the ramp leading off of the viewing platform. When I read the little tag and realized the heart could be ours, my heart was flooded with gratitude and the day became even more special as a result of this blessing. I excitedly caught up with the others to share this treasure. My own mother (gone too young, 24 years ago) was a quilter and loved to sew, so it felt like she was with us too. Thank you!
