Port Charlotte, FL USA

Thursday 3/9, was the first time our family has returned to Kiwanis Park since the devastating Hurricane Ian visited us. This is a playground/nature/workout park that we visited very often, especially during the summer time. The entire park looks different. The lack of trees and brush, the lack of children playing due to damages that our county is working to fix. Being able to now see the road and surrounding homes through the trails that were once FULL. Full of beautiful trees, palms, pines, ivy, the wildlife! The families and people who came out to breathe our Beautiful Florida air, bird watch, or bring their pups for exercise. Right before we ended our walk, ask we were still discussing the changes and bareness of our once beloved park, my daughter ran up a low hanging limb of a tree because something had caught her eye. To our surprise, our First quilted heart! The joy in hey eyes and the smile on her face once again brought back all the memories and happy times. In that one little moment, I was reminded of why we always loved it there. OUR COMMUNITY! Thank you to everyone who is keeping this tradition alive and for helping bring back smiles to the faces whom still to this day, are affected by the tragedy that stuck our small town almost 6 months ago.
