I found my quilted heart as I was going for a run on my favorite trail. It feels like it was meant to be. I wasn’t going to run today and decided to go on a whim. My sister who passed away at 25 was a runner and I picked up running because of her, although I always found it much more difficult than she did. I saw the quilted heart and ran past it before turning back to check it out, thinking it was maybe a toy a child dropped. When I turned it around and saw the bee fabric, I got so excited. I love bees (and other pollinators) and actually have a bee tattooed on my back. For years, my boyfriend and I have made this habit of always searching for heart-shaped things out in the world to send each other pictures of or bring home to each other at the end of the day. I ran with my new heart all the way back to my car and couldn’t stop smiling, thinking about my sister, and how it felt like a sign that I am on the right path and right where I need to be. Thank you for my new heart.
