With only a few days between summer classes at UC Berkeley, I decided it was absolutely necessary to visit a natural area outside of my usual Contra Costa stomping ground! So I planned an impromptu solo day trek starting at Muir Beach and up to Muir Woods. I had never been in the area and didn’t have a concrete plan, but immediately fell in love with the trails. After a few hours of hiking, some highway and roadside traversing, and a couple wrong turns, I was a trailblazing fool! And then, there it was, hanging in some brush to the right. At first I glanced at it and kept walking, but curiosity got the better of me and I’m so glad it did! It was truly an amazing day of connecting with the landscape, and now I have a heartfelt memento to always remember how special my journey was. Thank you!!! 🙂
