I found my quilted heart one year ago today, on the 26th of October 2023. We were visiting California from The Netherlands to record an album there in Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek’s new studio in Topanga. We had just finished the album two days before and were starting a little road trip up the West Coast, when we stopped to check out the 17 Mile Drive in Monterey. At our very first stop at Shepherd’s Knoll we found this heart! It now has a spot in the hallway of our house in The Netherlands, where it reminds us of our beautiful trip to California. The album has just been released last month (Meadowlake – where the mountain meets the sea), and everyday we look back at photo’s to see what we did that day exactly one year ago. That’s how I was reminded to share my story on your website! Thanks so much for the quilted heart, it was very special to find it there, and it brings back so many great memories.
