I was cross country skiing at Mendon Ponds Park when I noticed something purple hanging from a tree limb. After backtracking to take a closer look, I noticed the quilted heart and the tag “I need a home”. My first reaction was to leave it for someone else but when I noticed the little charm with the paw print attached, it brought a tear to my eye. My wife and I just lost our cat Josie three weeks earlier after being a loving member of our household for 19 years. Our heart was broken when she passed away, and I instantly thought of this purple heart as a sign from her that she is ok and she loves us. I brought the heart home, showed it to my wife, and shared my story with her of how I discovered it. We placed the heart in her bed she used to sleep in along with her ashes as a remembrance. Thank you to whoever you are for such a touching anonymous gift of love.
