This was the fifth Quilted Heart that my family found on New Year’s Day.
At this point we had joked that someone had stolen our family plans for the day and was just ahead of us, just placing Quilted Hearts all along our various driving routes. This time, we had just finished eating dinner, and mom found her second heart for the day, and second heart that she had ever found.
On a small tree, half an arms reach from the sidewalk, just around the corner from the Racine St Bridge was a heart, bent and folded over in the shape and color of an autumn leaf. This harvest/autumn themed Quilted Heart seemed very tired of being ignored and was very happy to be discovered. As we were on our way home, we were able to help press the heart back into shape, so that it could be photographed and then added to the now large collection of Quilted Hearts that had been discovered this lovely first day of the year, and it’s now proudly displayed in a place of honor in our home.
