I traveled to historic downtown Kennewick during a weekend trip to Washington State for my uncle’s memorial. My parents, my 16-year-old daughter and I were window shopping on June 20, 2022 when something colorful caught my eye in a small flower planter outside of a second hand clothing shop. It was the most adorable quilted heart, and finding it was like a “god wink” from Uncle Gene, a wonderful man we were lucky to know and love.
