I’m not sure if this heart was strategically placed by family or neighbors… but it was very much needed. My dad had just passed. It was the day after his funeral and I was bringing photo frames back to his lake house (his lifelong goal was to live in that community). I went to add something to the trash can and saw something laying in the leaves. Thinking it was a piece of trash, I bent down to pick it up. To my surprise, it was this beautiful quilted heart. I’m familiar with these type of projects – have been a geocacher for decades and our friends even made up our own cards to place and track on Facebook. I never knew about the quilted hearts. The stitching was beautiful and it ironically had three flowers added to the front. I had gotten a tattoo back in 2020 that includes three flowers. It obviously had not been there long and will forever have a home next to a framed photo of my dad. It reminded me of the love he would constantly give to other people in his life. I went back inside his house, curled up on his recliner, snuggled up in his blanket and had a much needed cry for about 30 minutes. Thank you to whomever left this heart for us to find. It has really helped me thru this extremely difficult time.
