Yesterday, August 27th, 2024 was one of the most difficult days of my life! I knew something was wrong with my cat, Gordon. Before his vet appointment, I took him outside to visit all the chickens, ducks & people he’d watched over the years. These were his friends here on the farm where we live in West Mecca, Ohio. We were on our way to Gordon’s appointment at Fette Veterinary Clinic in Hermitage, PA.
I found my quilted heart sitting on the bench outside the vet’s office. I saw it immediately as I pulled into my parking spot. I grabbed Gordon in his cat carrier and walked right up to the purple quilted heart laying on the bench. I knew it was meant for Gordon the cat & me to find… it was ours & I knew it!
I went inside and checked in for our appointment. Gordon’s health started failing very quickly last week. We were there to see what was going on with him & trying to be prepared for the worst.
Gordon was almost 18 years old and had been my rock for many years. He was the sole surving kitten of a feral kitten. He and I had been thru thick & thin for a very long time!
The news wasn’t good for Gordon. He had a huge mass in his lower abdomen and it was cancer that he couldn’t recover from or treat. The decision was made to put him to sleep as he went from seemingly health to unable to walk in a little more than a week.
So I shared with the Vet Tech, Christy, that I had found a quilted heart on the bench out front and she said, “Somebody knew you needed extra love today!”
