Hi! My name is Sara and my husband, Aaron and I decided to try “rock hounding” for the first time after stumbling onto a Gem Field just outside Goldfield, NV. To get there, you drive approx. 3 miles on a dirt road back behind fields of Joshua Trees to an area surrounded by hills. There are different areas dug up to reveal different types of rocks like Red Jasper. At $1 per pound you can take whatever you would like. On a super windy and chilly day we drove around the small track to the different areas and picked up a couple of our favorite finds and went back to the beginning of the loop to weigh and pay for our new treasures. We then hopped back in the car and headed out, but then I remembered you needed to sign the book as a sort of permit process so we turned around and that is where we found our quilted heart! Would never have found it if we hadn’t gone back. There were a few little knickknacks in the box where you sign in and I was pleasantly surprised to see the cute heart I picked up had a tag! I love finding unique things like this and thank you to whoever left it. It made my day!
