I think I was meant to find this heart when I needed it most. I was out to lunch with my coworkers, we had just found out 2 days prior that one of our close colleagues had passed away. They were the rock of our facility and their loss hit us hard. We had gone out to lunch to celebrate the recent promotion of another one of our colleagues, we didn’t want to minimize their achievement, even though everyone was going through a really difficulty time. The lunch was great, but turned into a time of reminiscing about our passed colleague, sharing stories and things that we would miss. At the end of lunch I got into the car to leave and noticed something in the bush in the parking lot that looked like a heart. I knew immediately what it was as a former coworker had found one of these on the UC Davis campus years prior (this is where we work). I jumped out and grabbed the heart, I was so happy to have finally found one! It was a comfort during a difficult time and now hangs from my desk where I can see it every day <3
