I found a quilted heart in Colville August 23, 2024. We plucked it off a bush near a senior center. It was right before I took my baby to the NE WA fair on his 8 month birthday 🎂🥳. We strolled into the fairgrounds, got a library card, and looked at the fiber arts exhibits. The 4H exhibitors were in full force, putting the finishing touches on the animals they were showing to judges- the goats and the cows were a hit with the baby, but he didn’t care at all about the pigs. As we wrapped up our trip, I was admiring how hard working the farm kids were, cleaning out the stalls, opening doors for me, and making eye contact to say, “Excuse me.” When they rushed on by. One kid, maybe between 7-9 locked his gaze on my baby before looking at me and saying, “He is beautiful.” I never thought a compliment could feel so good.
