I had just flown in from New York and decided to hike the Yamato trails. I was struck by the natural beauty I found there. Eventually I came upon a small group of butterflies dancing around the foliage, and I moved off the trail to film them. It seemed like a perfect day in every way. I just felt so at ease. When I looked up I came upon a small quilted heart hanging from a low branch. It just looked so out of place there. At first I thought I shouldn’t touch it, but curiosity got the better of me. I turned it over and saw the small tag “I need a home” … Its hard to explain the joy I felt in that moment. It’s like I discovered a hidden treasure left for for me alone. What a great feeling it is to be on the receiving end of a random act of this kindness. These are the gestures that renew your faith in humanity.
