Anytown

I pulled up to my quilt store yesterday and saw this little pink and red heart hanging from the bush in front of my car. I was worried someone had lost it and thought I could turn it in at my quilt store in case the owner came back to look for it. When I walked up closer, I read the sign and thought, “Me? Am I supposed to take it and give it a home?” I still didn’t believe it would just be left by a stranger, so I brought it into the quilt store and asked if they knew what it was or why it was hanging. Also, did they, the quilt shop, plant it there?! The two store clerks were both so excited for me and swore on their quilts they had not left it there themselves. They even said they were aware of the quilted heart movement but had never seen one in the wild! I squealed with delight when I realized it was intentionally left and I was the lucky finder! It just really tickled me that someone would just leave a bit of kindness and love in the world for someone else to find. We can all get stuck in our own heads and social media and the daily news reel can make the world seem doomed but its moments like this that begin to lift the clouds of worry and panic. When you stumble across generosity of the spirit it renews a sense of hope and faith that we’re all going to be ok. Humans are kind and loving. <3
